Raspberry Chia Jam

Raspberry Chia Jam

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to post this recipe. This is a staple in my house. It is honestly so easy to make and a super healthy way to enjoy jam. I spread it on my toast, add it to my plain yogurt, fill cookies with it, and top my breakfast doughnuts with it.

No joke this recipe takes 5 minutes to make. You fill a pot with a bunch of frozen berries and simmer. Then you add in some chia seeds and voila. Fresh and healthy jam.

Raspberry Chia Jam

Chia seeds are an excellent source of soluble fibre which is important for a healthy gut. They are also a great plant-based omega-3 fatty acid.

For this recipe I used raspberries but you can use your favourite berries or a combination. I have successfully tried combinations using blueberries, strawberries and cherries.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of frozen raspberries
  • 1 ½ tbsp of chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp of maple syrup (optional if desired)

Instructions

  1. Pour 2 cups of frozen raspberries in a small pot and start defrosting them on medium heat. Periodically stir and break up the chunks with your spoon. This will simmer for about 5 minutes or so until the berries are broken up and there is some liquid in the pot. You need the juices, that’s what the chia seeds will absorb. You can taste it and if you want to make it sweeter you can add in some maple syrup.
  2. Remove from the heat and stir in the chia seeds. Stir it a couple times over the next few minutes.
  3. Pour into a glass jar and let cool. Once cool, store it in the fridge for up to a week.
