Brain Boosting Blueberry Smoothie Bowl
Blueberries are one of my favourite fruits and I love adding them to smoothies, especially wild blueberries which have the highest antioxidant levels.
Blueberries are rich in anthocyanins, an antioxidant that gives them their gorgeous blue colour. It helps protect against inflammation, which is the root cause of many chronic and degenerative diseases.
Studies show that wild blueberries are one of the top foods for cognitive function and because it is low on the glycemic index it doesn’t wreak havoc on your blood sugar levels.
To take it up a notch I also included lots of brain boosting healthy fats like cashews, chia seeds, MCT oil and almond butter. Add in a little protein powder to feed those neurotransmitters and you have yourself a brain boosting smoothie bowl.
