Ottawa, Nutritionist, Delia Mota, Fireplace, ADHDHere is a little bit more about me and my wellness journey to becoming a Registered Holistic Nutritionist.

I would have to say that it all started in my early teen years.

Growing up my family always tried to eat a healthy dinner together but to get through the day I would power through it by eating processed foods and sugary drinks. Add in some layers of stress and my digestive system became a mess!

After years of suffering and not getting the answers and help I needed, I decided to make it my mission to help myself.

This was the beginning of years of research into the nutrition rabbit hole. It wasn’t easy and it didn’t happen overnight but after trial and error I was finally starting to get my digestive system working and feeling better.

At the time, I had a feeling that nutrition was the key to something special!

I continued on to graduate from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor in Commerce and got a job in the banking industry. By the age of 29, I had a thriving career working with a financial institution. I enjoyed many aspects of my career but towards the end of that journey I was becoming a person that I didn’t recognize anymore. I was unhappy, burnt out, stressed out, and nutrient depleted. As a result, I was suffering from hormonal imbalances that were leaving me in pain most days.

One day I decided that I could not keep living like this and that I needed to make a change.

I wanted a life where I was living my purpose and doing something that I was passionate about. It was suddenly clear that in order to fully heal I needed to leave the banking industry.

That’s when I enrolled at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition to learn everything I could about healing my body and living a healthier life. It was here that I really learned the power of food and how the body is interconnected. It shed light onto how food affects our energy and mood while stress wreaks havoc in our bodies. It also allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of how the mind, body and spirit are connected and the powerful impact your thoughts and emotions can have on your health. This was the moment where my passion for wellness and nutrition really blossomed. I realized that the parts of my previous banking roles that I enjoyed the most were connecting with people and helping others.

Instead of helping people make healthy financial decisions I would help them make healthy eating and lifestyle decisions!

I graduated top of my class and set out to become a Holistic Nutritionist. Now I am able to follow my passion to inspire children and adults to live their best life!
